The Wilkinson Steel building in Vancouver. This heritage building from 1950 was used to import and distribute industrial metal products. It was once situated on False Creek waterfront but with modern infill, it no longer has access to the creek. I fell in love with the corrugated sheet metal cladding around the building arranged in layers. Over the years it has weathered into a rusty patina of varioius hues and textures. The layering of the sheets of steel applied in a patchwork inspired a collage art treatment in my work.
